Vaughn college

We are pleased to announce that the Uniondale Union Free School District will be continuing the P-TECH program funded by the New York State Department of Education. The goal of the P-TECH program is to provide a six-year course of study (grades nine-twelve, plus two years ofpostsecondary instruction) that is sequential and integrates academic and career and technicaleducation. The New York State Education Department is aimed at developing a college-going culture in schools that serve large minority populations by leveraging innovative coursework, career focus and technical learning.

We are partnering with Vaughn College which will serve as our university partner with aconcentration in Animation and Digital Graphics or Electronic Engineering Technology. The Electronic Engineering Technology program will allow students to obtain careers in avionics/electronics, design, development, maintenance and repair. The Animation and Digital graphics program will teach skills in computer-aided graphic design, 3-D modeling, and video game design. Both of these programs culminate in an Associate’s Degree, and Uniondale graduates who complete this program at Vaughn will be highly sought after for employment.

We have a few remaining student vacancies in the program and have the ability to recruit for the remainder of this school year. If you are interested in learning more about PTECH, please contact Phillip Bachmann, School Counselor, at 516-560-8947 or pbachmann@uniondaleschools.org.
